A university in southwest China has surpassed several renowned Western institutions in terms of research quality in science.
The Nature Index evaluates research institutions based on their contributions to articles published in the world’s most prestigious scientific journals.
Sichuan University (SCU), located in Chengdu, has now secured the 11th position among the world’s top educational institutions.
This ranking places SCU ahead of globally recognized universities such as Stanford University, the Massachusetts Institute of Technology (MIT), Oxford University, and the University of Tokyo.
Harvard University in the United States claimed the top position on the list, while the remaining nine institutions in the top ten are all based in China.
SCU has particularly excelled in chemistry research, where it holds the ninth position worldwide in this field.
