China’s self-developed third-generation superconducting quantum computer, Origin Wukong, has surpassed 20 million remote visits globally, marking a significant achievement in the country’s progress in quantum computing, as reported by China Science and Technology Daily.
The Anhui Quantum Computing Engineering Research Center (AQCERC) revealed that users from 139 countries and regions have accessed Origin Wukong remotely, with the United States, Russia, Japan, and Canada leading in user engagement. Among these, the U.S. had the highest number of foreign user visits.
Since its launch on January 6, 2024, Origin Wukong has successfully completed over 339,000 quantum computing tasks across various sectors, including finance and biomedicine.
The quantum computer runs on the Wukong chip, a 72-qubit superconducting quantum chip, making it one of the country’s most sophisticated programmable superconducting quantum computers.
The name “Wukong” draws from the mythical Sun Wukong, the Monkey King, known for his ability to transform into 72 different forms, symbolizing the computer’s powerful and versatile abilities.
