China outlined five key principles for resolving the Iranian nuclear issue during a meeting in Beijing between Chinese Foreign Minister Wang Yi, Russian Deputy Foreign Minister Ryabkov Sergey Alexeevich, and Iranian Deputy Foreign Minister Kazem Gharibabadi.
Wang, who is also a member of the Political Bureau of the Communist Party of China Central Committee, emphasized China’s dedication to resolving disputes through peaceful political and diplomatic means while firmly opposing the use of force and unlawful sanctions.
He stressed the importance of maintaining a balanced approach that upholds both rights and responsibilities, ensuring that nuclear non-proliferation efforts align with the peaceful use of nuclear energy.
Wang reaffirmed China’s commitment to the Joint Comprehensive Plan of Action (JCPOA) as the fundamental framework for building a new consensus on Iran’s nuclear program.
Additionally, he highlighted the need for constructive dialogue, rejecting external pressure for United Nations Security Council (UNSC) intervention in the matter.
China also supports a step-by-step, reciprocal strategy in negotiations, advocating for consensus-building through diplomatic consultation.
