China’s Foundation donates bicycles to Lao students to ease their access to transportation facilities.
A ceremony was held in Vientiane, the capital of Laos, on Wednesday to hand over bicycles donated by the China Foundation for Rural Development (CFRD) to Lao students.
In his address, Sommad Pholsena, Vice President of the Lao National Assembly, stated that the project would ease transportation for Lao students.
He encouraged the recipients to study diligently and contribute to fostering stronger ties and mutual understanding between Laos and China.
During the ceremony, Lin Yuan, assistant director of CFRD’s International Development Department, noted that the donation of 1,000 bicycles, delivered via the China-Laos Railway, was a symbol of the enduring friendship between the two nations.
Athit Khounthavong, a student from Laos, expressed his enthusiasm upon receiving the bicycle. “Before, it took me half an hour to walk to school, but now, with the bicycle, I can reach in just 10 minutes. It has made commuting so much easier!”
The CFRD began the International Charity Bicycle Project in 2021.
