Chinese Vice President Han Zheng, speaking at the opening ceremony of the second Global Digital Trade Expo in Hangzhou, expressed China’s willingness to collaborate with other nations in promoting the high-quality and sustainable development of global digital trade. Han conveyed these sentiments while reading a congratulatory letter from President Xi Jinping at the ceremony.
Highlighting that digital trade represents a new trajectory in global trade development and a pivotal growth factor for the future, Han emphasized China’s readiness to work with all countries to establish an open, inclusive, fair, just, and non-discriminatory environment for the digital economy’s development.
Han underscored China’s unique advantages in digital trade development, citing extensive data resources and diverse application scenarios for trade digitalization. He revealed that China regards digital trade as one of the three pillars for its trade sector alongside trade in goods and services.
China’s commitment extends to actively participating in the formulation of international rules and standards in the digital field, promoting higher-level openness, accelerating digital transformation, and fostering cross-border e-commerce development. Initiatives include improving digital infrastructure, establishing Silk Road e-commerce cooperation pilot zones, and creating a Belt and Road e-commerce market with partners. Han emphasized that these efforts aim to enhance the security and stability of global digital industrial and supply chains.
Expressing China’s openness to communication and collaboration, Han stated that the expo, themed “Digital Trade, Global Access,” is an opportunity to strengthen ties and achieve meaningful cooperation results. The event attracted around 1,000 representatives from 63 countries and regions, along with 68 international organizations and business associations.
