China’s icebreaker Xuelong arrived back at port on Tuesday, marking the completion of the country’s 41st Antarctic expedition. The mission featured key tasks such as constructing the Qinling research station and conducting research on climate change, according to China Media Group.
Launched on November 1, 2024, the expedition involved 516 scientists and utilized three ships. The cargo vessel Yong Sheng had returned earlier in January 2025 after delivering materials for the research station. Meanwhile, Xuelong 2 remains stationed in the Ross Sea to continue collaborative international scientific work through June.
