China has expressed support for the recent elevation of diplomatic ties between Pakistan and Afghanistan from chargé d’affaires to ambassador level, according to a statement by the Chinese foreign ministry spokesperson on Wednesday.
Spokesperson Lin Jian, addressing a regular press conference, said China is prepared to continue playing a constructive role in advancing the development of relations between the two neighboring countries.
He emphasized that this step would help build mutual trust, boost bilateral cooperation, and support regional peace and stability. He also noted that it reflects the implementation of outcomes from the trilateral foreign ministers’ informal meeting held in May.
Lin further stated that China is ready to work alongside Pakistan, Afghanistan, and other regional partners to maintain peace, stability, and development, and to contribute to a community with a shared future in the region.
