A video by CMSA detailed the suit’s advanced features, including protective materials for shielding astronauts from lunar conditions, an easy-to-use control panel, and built-in cameras for capturing various scenes. The suit also boasts flexible gloves, a glare-proof helmet, and joints suited for low-gravity environments, making it lightweight for lunar activities.
Astronauts Zhai Zhigang and Wang Yaping demonstrated the suit in the video, performing movements such as walking, squatting, and climbing. Li Meng from the China Astronaut Research and Training Center noted that work on the suit began in 2020, with a focus on creating a lightweight, reliable, and safe design, achieving numerous technological breakthroughs.
China’s previous Feitian spacesuits have supported 17 spacewalks by astronauts, contributing to the construction and operation of the country’s space station. Zhai was China’s first astronaut to conduct a spacewalk, while Wang was the first woman to enter China’s space station.
China’s manned lunar landing is planned for 2030, and the unveiling of the moon-landing spacesuit signifies a significant milestone in the country’s space technology development.
