Chinese Ambassador to Indonesia, Wang Lutong, held discussions with Maniza Zaman, UNICEF’s representative in Indonesia, regarding the partnership between China and UNICEF in Indonesia’s free meal program.
Wang highlighted a December 2024 agreement between the China International Development Cooperation Agency and UNICEF China, focusing on food supplementation and school feeding in Indonesia. This marks the first cash-based aid project jointly undertaken by China and UNICEF in the country, showcasing China’s dedication to supporting the program.
He further explained that this agreement is a significant component of the China-Indonesia comprehensive strategic partnership, as stated in the Joint Statement on Promoting Comprehensive Strategic Partnership and Building a China-Indonesia Community of Shared Future.
Wang reiterated China’s firm commitment to supporting the United Nations and assured that the Chinese Embassy in Indonesia would work closely with UNICEF Indonesia to ensure the program’s success.
Maniza Zaman expressed gratitude for China’s contributions and shared her enthusiasm for enhanced communication and future cooperation opportunities.
