China-UK Dialogue yields 69 cooperation agreements as both nations showed determination towards development.
China and the United Kingdom committed to fostering an open world economy during their recent economic and financial dialogue, according to a Chinese Foreign Ministry spokesperson on Monday.
Spokesperson Guo Jiakun stated during a regular briefing that the two nations reached 69 mutually beneficial agreements during the discussions.
The 11th China-UK Economic and Financial Dialogue, held in Beijing on Saturday, was co-led by Chinese Vice Premier He Lifeng and British Chancellor of the Exchequer Rachel Reeves.
The dialogue produced significant agreements and mutual understandings. Additionally, both leaders participated in the fourth China-UK Financial Services Summit.
Guo emphasized on Monday that both sides reiterated their shared commitment to multilateralism and economic globalization. They also agreed to uphold a rules-based multilateral trading system centered on the World Trade Organization and to work towards building an open global economy.
Both countries acknowledged that cooperation between China and the UK supports their respective development goals. They pledged to maintain secure and stable global supply chains, oppose decoupling, reduce barriers to bilateral investment, and foster a non-discriminatory, open business environment.
Agreements were reached to collaborate in sectors such as industry, agriculture, and energy, according to Guo.
Finance emerged as a key area of focus in China-UK cooperation. Both nations expressed intent to enhance collaboration in financial policies and regulation, promote two-way market openness, and achieve practical outcomes in financial connectivity.
Guo highlighted that the dialogue’s outcomes demonstrate the extensive and deep cooperation between the two countries, benefiting not only China and the UK but also the global economy. He added that China is ready to collaborate with the UK to implement the agreements.
