Chinese and American officials engaged in professional, rational, and thorough discussions over the past two days, according to a senior Chinese official on Tuesday.
Li Chenggang, China’s international trade representative and vice minister of commerce, shared this update while addressing the media after the inaugural meeting of the China-U.S. economic and trade consultation mechanism, held in London.
Li stated that both parties have, in principle, agreed on a framework to implement the understandings reached by the two presidents during their phone call on June 5, as well as during earlier discussions in Geneva.
He expressed hope that the outcomes of the London meeting would help build greater mutual trust, promote the stable and healthy development of bilateral economic and trade relations, and inject positive momentum into global economic growth.
