China expressed its commitment on Thursday to collaborate with Pakistan to ensure the safety and security of Chinese personnel, projects, and institutions in Pakistan, following the killing of two Chinese engineers in an attack claimed by a separatist militant group.
Chinese Foreign Ministry spokesperson Mao Ning mentioned she was unaware of reports that Pakistan is planning to restrict the movement of Chinese citizens during the upcoming Shanghai Cooperation Organization meeting due to security risks from militant groups.
President Asif Ali Zardari visited the Chinese Embassy on Thursday to offer condolences on behalf of Pakistan’s government and people over the tragic killing of Chinese citizens in a terrorist attack in Karachi on October 7, 2024.
Strongly condemning the attack, President Zardari reaffirmed Pakistan’s determination to bring the perpetrators to justice and expressed solidarity with the Chinese people during this difficult time.
In his conversation with Chinese Ambassador Jiang Zaidong, Zardari acknowledged China’s significant contributions to Pakistan’s socio-economic development and stressed that the enemies of both nations seek to disrupt the strong partnership between the two countries. He emphasized that such cowardly acts would not weaken the friendship between the two long-standing allies.
Zardari reiterated Pakistan’s commitment to ensuring the safety and security of Chinese nationals residing in the country.
