China to train Pakistani employees for CPEC projects and empower local youth to take part in development.
In a major move to deepen educational collaboration, Secretary of Education Mohyuddin Ahmad Wani met with a senior Chinese delegation led by Wang Dang, Chairman of CIIC Technology Group Co. Ltd., at the Ministry of Federal Education and Professional Training on Monday.
The visiting Chinese team also included the General Manager of CIIC International Education Technology Co. Ltd. The session was attended by Joint Secretary Education Sohail Akhtar and NAVTTC Executive Director Muhammad Aamir Jan.
Welcoming the delegation, Secretary Wani commended Wang Dang as a longtime supporter of Pakistan. He stressed that Pakistan is currently facing significant challenges in education, intensified by climate change, but assured that an education emergency has been declared. The ministry is working to enhance access, improve infrastructure, strengthen teacher training, and support students’ nutrition, in coordination with other departments.
Chairman Wang Dang expressed CIIC’s strong interest in launching technical training centers throughout Pakistan. He emphasized the need to equip Pakistani youth with practical skills to support the growing workforce demands of Chinese companies operating under CPEC. He also acknowledged Pakistan’s reform efforts and expressed willingness to enhance collaboration.
An important takeaway from the discussion was the decision to facilitate a ministerial-level meeting between the education authorities of Pakistan and China to fast-track the training center initiative led by CIIC. Secretary Wani highlighted ongoing innovations in Pakistan’s education sector such as disaster-resilient infrastructure, the Pink Bus Program for female students, and the School Meals initiative targeting child malnutrition.
Wani elaborated that educational reform is being driven through a comprehensive strategy, steered by a special task force under the Prime Minister’s guidance, with each initiative designed to create sustainable improvements.
Wang Dang provided a brief on CIIC’s vast experience, noting that the group, founded in 1987 and based in Beijing, has a presence in over 300 Chinese cities and specializes in human resource and intellectual services. The meeting ended with a mutual pledge to expand and deepen cooperation in the education sector for shared progress.
