China has pledged 100 million yuan (approximately 13.9 million U.S. dollars) in emergency humanitarian aid to assist Myanmar in its earthquake relief efforts, a spokesperson from the China International Development Cooperation Agency announced on Saturday.
In response to Myanmar’s government request, China will dispatch two rescue teams along with essential relief supplies, including tents, blankets, first-aid kits, food, and drinking water, which are urgently needed in the disaster-stricken areas, said spokesperson Li Ming.
The initial batch of relief supplies is set to be delivered on Monday, with China prepared to extend additional aid as per Myanmar’s evolving requirements, the agency stated.
A powerful 7.9-magnitude earthquake struck Myanmar on Friday. According to Myanmar’s State Administration Council, the disaster has resulted in 1,002 fatalities, 2,376 injuries, and 30 people still reported missing.
