China successfully launches new satellite, Tianping-3A 02, into space on Thursday from the Taiyuan Satellite Launch Center in Shanxi province.
The satellite was carried into orbit aboard a Long March 6 rocket at 10:12 am (Beijing Time) and successfully reached its designated orbit.
Designed for ground-based radar calibration and radar cross-section (RCS) measurement, the satellite will also support imaging experiments, monitor the low-orbit space environment, and aid atmospheric space environment studies and orbital prediction model refinement.
As China successfully launches new satellite, it marks the 568th flight mission of the Long March carrier rocket series.
