China reaffirms drive towards fair international order as Wang Yi stated during Munich Security Conference.
Chinese Foreign Minister Wang Yi stated on Friday that China seeks to guide the international order toward a more fair and balanced direction, aligning with the aspirations of the majority of nations.
Speaking at the “China in the World” session during the Munich Security Conference, Wang emphasized that China has developed within the existing global order and benefited from it. Addressing concerns about international stability, he dismissed claims that China aims to dismantle the current system, asserting instead that another country, by breaching agreements and withdrawing from global organizations, is creating instability in Europe.
Responding to a question about maintaining fairness in applying international rules, Wang acknowledged that different nations may interpret these rules differently. However, he stressed the need for a shared understanding that upholds the international system with the United Nations at its core, guided by the UN Charter’s principles. He emphasized that this consensus would prevent the emergence of double standards.
Wang further underscored China’s commitment to its international responsibilities, pledging to contribute more global public goods. He highlighted President Xi Jinping’s key initiatives—the Global Development Initiative, the Global Security Initiative, and the Global Civilization Initiative—aimed at addressing global challenges in development, security, and governance.
President Xi’s vision of a “community with a shared future for mankind” calls on nations to rise above differences in history, culture, and ideology to protect the planet and create a more interconnected world. Wang noted that this concept reflects both internationalist ideals and China’s traditional philosophy of governance, which has gained increasing support globally.
China remains committed to advancing these initiatives and fostering international cooperation, Wang concluded.
