In a heartwarming demonstration of unity and generosity, the China-Pakistan Youth Exchange Community (CPYEC) recently provided food aid to 300 families affected by flooding in Bahawalnagar and nearby disaster-stricken areas.
This aid is expected to benefit over 1,800 individuals and was made possible through a collaborative effort with the Beijing One Heart Sphere Charity Foundation.
CPYEC, a nonprofit organization dedicated to fostering cultural exchange and mutual understanding between the youth of China and Pakistan, has been actively engaged in various social and humanitarian endeavors in Pakistan, including disaster relief initiatives.
After the devastating Century Flood in Pakistan in August 2022, another significant flood occurred in Bahawalnagar and other regions of Pakistan in May 2023. This latest flood resulted in the destruction of numerous dams and villages, claimed 196 lives, left thousands injured, and displaced over 16,627 people. Official reports indicate that 153,231 acres of unharvested land were ruined. The floods also impacted 90 villages along the riverbank, causing substantial casualties and economic losses, presenting a significant challenge for post-flood reconstruction in 2023.
The CPYEC’s efforts are aimed at providing much-needed relief to the flood victims, many of whom are grappling with financial hardships.
