China, Pakistan share familial relations, FM Ishaq Dar stated during an interview in New York.
Pakistani Foreign Minister Muhammad Ishaq Dar emphasized the close familial bond between China and Pakistan, stressing the need for more frequent consultations between the two nations. He made these remarks during an exclusive interview with China Media Group in New York on Monday.
Dar is currently in New York to attend a high-level meeting of the United Nations Security Council (UNSC) focused on multilateralism and global governance. Prior to the meeting, he, who also serves as Pakistan’s deputy prime minister, expressed his desire to strengthen bilateral ties with China.
“Friends and family meet multiple times a day. If a few days pass without a meeting, it already feels like a gap,” Dar remarked. He highlighted that both countries consistently have important, mutually beneficial agendas to discuss, not only for their own interests but also for the global community. He reiterated that the world is going through a challenging period and that frequent consultations between China and Pakistan, as iron brothers and all-weather friends, are crucial.
As China took over the rotating presidency of the U.N. Security Council for February, it organized a high-level event on Tuesday. During the event, Chinese Foreign Minister Wang Yi delivered a speech emphasizing the need to uphold multilateralism and reform global governance.
