China, Pakistan ink deal in Beijing for wind-solar projects in Sindh aiming to boost green energy transition goals of both countries.
A strategic cooperation agreement aimed at strengthening clean energy collaboration was signed in Beijing on February 6 between China’s Mingyang Smart Energy Group Co., Ltd. and the Energy Department of Sindh, Pakistan.
As part of the agreement, Mingyang Smart Energy will develop a 350MW wind-solar hybrid power storage project along with a 75MW wind power project in Sindh. Both projects are expected to be completed and become operational within three years.
The signing ceremony was attended by Pakistani President Asif Ali Zardari and Zhang Qiying, President of Global Business Line and CTO of Mingyang Smart Energy. Officials from the Energy Department of Sindh formally signed the agreement.
According to Mingyang Smart Energy, this partnership builds upon the long-standing energy cooperation between China and Pakistan. In 2017, the two countries initiated their first Chinese-funded wind power project in Sindh, featuring 33 wind turbines supplied by Mingyang Smart Energy. The project successfully integrated into the national grid, marking a milestone in China-Pakistan clean energy collaboration. It not only created local job opportunities but also stimulated the development of industries linked to wind power supply chains.
This latest agreement reflects the ongoing commitment of both nations to promoting clean energy initiatives, furthering their shared goals of sustainable and green development.
