China, Laos reaffirm stronger ties for shared future as Foreign Minister of both countries met in Beijing.
Chinese Foreign Minister Wang Yi met with Lao Foreign Minister Thongsavanh Phomvihane in Beijing on Thursday, where both reaffirmed their commitment to strengthening China-Laos relations and advancing their shared future.
Wang highlighted the strong ties between the two nations, which have endured for 64 years, emphasizing their mutual support through challenges. He noted that their comprehensive strategic partnership continues to grow stronger and more resilient.
China fully supports Laos in reinforcing its party leadership and seeks to deepen strategic trust, solidarity, and cooperation to further their shared goals. With China’s recent “two sessions” setting a 5% GDP growth target for 2025, Wang invited Laos to capitalize on China’s development opportunities and jointly pursue modernization.
He also emphasized China’s commitment to enhancing high-level exchanges, expanding cooperation, and strengthening bilateral and multilateral law enforcement efforts to ensure regional peace, stability, and economic growth.
Thongsavanh praised China’s achievements and reaffirmed Laos’ adherence to the one-China policy. He expressed Laos’ readiness to collaborate closely with China in building a stronger Laos-China community with a shared future.
