China, Gabon pledge stronger strategic partnership as President Xi’s special envoy attends the presidential inauguration ceremony.
China places great importance on its relationship with Gabon and is committed to enhancing their comprehensive strategic cooperative partnership, said Mu Hong, the special envoy of Chinese President Xi Jinping, during his visit on Sunday.
Invited by Gabonese President Brice Clotaire Oligui Nguema, Mu, also the vice chairperson of the Chinese People’s Political Consultative Conference, attended the presidential inauguration ceremony on Saturday in Gabon’s capital, Libreville. The following day, President Nguema held a meeting with him.
During the meeting, Mu extended President Xi Jinping’s warm congratulations and best wishes to Nguema, affirming China’s readiness to build on their longstanding friendship, reinforce mutual trust through cooperation, and pursue shared development and mutual gains.
Nguema expressed heartfelt appreciation for China’s gesture of sending a special envoy and asked Mu to convey his sincere greetings and good wishes to President Xi.
Reaffirming Gabon’s commitment to the traditional friendship with China, Nguema stated that Gabon will continue to firmly support the one-China policy, expand practical cooperation in multiple areas, and work to further strengthen bilateral ties.
