China, France deepen cooperation on cultural heritage preservation as an agreement has been reached.
Northwest Normal University in Gansu Province, China, has entered into an agreement with France’s Foundation for Cultural Heritage Science (Fondation des Sciences du Patrimoine) to enhance technological collaboration in preserving cultural heritage, according to a statement released on Friday.
The agreement will encourage cooperation and exchanges in higher education and research, with a primary focus on collaborative initiatives in the interdisciplinary analysis of cultural heritage techniques.
Both parties aim to share research findings and facilitate the exchange and spread of scientific knowledge. Plans are underway to create a joint laboratory dedicated to heritage preservation methods and instruments, conducting studies to support conservation efforts in China and France.
“The purpose of this agreement is to provide advanced scientific and technological assistance in cultural heritage conservation, including the safeguarding of murals and other artifacts,” stated Emmanuel Poirault, general director of the foundation.
“We have been steadily promoting scientific exchanges and collaborative projects with France in the area of heritage preservation. This partnership will significantly bolster Gansu’s expertise in the preservation of cave art and relics,” remarked Lu Zhenjiang from the provincial science and technology department.
This year coincides with the 60th anniversary of diplomatic relations between China and France.
