China committed to fostering inclusiveness in Asia: FM spokesperson Lin Jian stated while stressing on the importance of shared community.
China is steadfast in its dedication to being deeply rooted in its neighborhood and actively contributing to regional growth, as stated by Foreign Ministry spokesperson Lin Jian on Tuesday.
Lin emphasized that China’s commitment to principles like amity, sincerity, mutual benefit, and inclusivity will continue to positively impact more people across Asia. This, in turn, will contribute to building an Asian community with a shared future, promoting greater stability and offering hope globally.
Lin’s comments came in response to a media question following a think tank article that noted China and ASEAN are becoming influential powers in East Asia.
The article pointed out that the China-ASEAN relationship is founded on complementary interests, frequent trade, and shared values, which not only benefit Asia but also hold importance globally. Observers see China-ASEAN cooperation as a model for China’s broader engagement with neighboring nations.
Lin noted that China and ASEAN have maintained a stable and flourishing dialogue for the past thirty years, making their partnership resilient, dynamic, and increasingly productive. This cooperation has become one of the most successful and vibrant collaborative models worldwide, particularly in the Asia-Pacific region.
For five consecutive years, China and ASEAN have been each other’s largest trading partners. In 2024, their bilateral trade reached 6.99 trillion yuan (approximately 970.32 billion USD), and the 3.0 upgrade protocol of the China-ASEAN Free Trade Area is expected to be signed later this year.
The China-ASEAN relationship exemplifies China’s enduring principles of amity, sincerity, mutual benefit, and inclusiveness in neighborhood diplomacy, as well as its dedication to fostering friendship and cooperation with its neighboring countries. Lin added that political trust and shared interests between China and its neighbors are deepening.
According to Lin, China has become the largest trading partner of 18 countries. Regional cooperation frameworks such as East Asia Cooperation, Lancang-Mekong Cooperation, China-Central Asia Cooperation, and the Shanghai Cooperation Organization have significantly advanced regional economic integration.
Lin concluded by reaffirming China’s commitment to fostering friendship, sincerity, mutual benefit, openness, and inclusiveness as part of its role in the larger Asian community.
