The Chinese government has reaffirmed its authority by assigning Chinese names to places in Zangnan, asserting it as a matter of national sovereignty.
In an official statement, China’s Ministry of Foreign Affairs emphasized that Zangnan, historically, geographically, and administratively, belongs to China.
The ministry further clarified that renaming places within Zangnan is purely an internal administrative issue.
While India refers to the region as Arunachal Pradesh and claims it as its own, China maintains that the area is an integral part of southern Tibet.
Defense analysts suggest that after Pakistan’s firm reaction to Indian hostilities, China’s assertive move over Zangnan poses a significant diplomatic challenge for New Delhi.
They also criticized the Indian government, accusing it of destabilizing the region through confrontations with neighboring countries.
