China, ASEAN record closer education cooperation as the 2024 China-ASEAN Education Cooperation Week is in progress in Guizhou Province, China.
In 2023, the number of Chinese students studying in ASEAN countries and ASEAN students studying in China exceeded 175,000, highlighting the increasing activity in exchanges between the younger generations of both regions. This information was shared at the ongoing 2024 China-ASEAN Education Cooperation Week in Guizhou Province, southwest China.
Shi Zhongjun, the secretary-general of the ASEAN-China Center, emphasized that education is a vital part of people-to-people exchanges between China and ASEAN, and that talent plays a key role in the development of both China and ASEAN countries. He noted that in recent years, educational cooperation at various levels has expanded, leading to significant achievements in personnel training and scientific and technological collaboration.
The 2024 China-ASEAN Education Cooperation Week is taking place from August 20 to 25, featuring more than 70 scheduled activities, according to the event’s organizers.
This year’s event is jointly organized by China’s Ministry of Foreign Affairs, Ministry of Education, and the provincial government of Guizhou.
Since its inception in 2008, the China-ASEAN Education Cooperation Week has evolved into a prominent platform and bridge, making positive contributions to strengthening China-ASEAN relations.
