China-Africa Trade Expo to attract 28,000 participants showcasing expansion of bilateral ties and growing cooperation across sectors.
Over 28,000 individuals from China, Africa, and various international bodies have registered for the fourth China-Africa Economic and Trade Expo, organizers announced on Tuesday.
The attendees hail from 48 African nations, nine international organizations, and 27 provincial-level regions in China. According to a press briefing by Hunan’s provincial information office, over 4,700 businesses, industry associations, and financial institutions from China and Africa will take part.
Themed “China and Africa: Together Toward Modernization,” the expo will be held from June 12 to 15 in Changsha, the capital of Hunan Province in central China.
The event will include 30 trade-related activities focused on areas such as industrial cooperation, green minerals, infrastructure, traditional medicine, creative industries, and youth-led entrepreneurship.
For the first time, special exhibitions will showcase signature brands of China-Africa collaboration, high-quality African products, tourism, and joint efforts in traditional Chinese medicine.
The main exhibition venue will be open to the general public from June 13 to 15. Additional exhibitions, including a sub-venue and an engineering machinery display, will also be held at separate locations.
Since its launch in 2019, the expo has resulted in the signing of 336 cooperation agreements worth a combined total of 53.32 billion U.S. dollars.
In February, local authorities introduced new policy measures to boost trade facilitation and the sustainable growth of China-Africa trade. These policies focus on improving access to markets, foreign exchange systems, financing, trade logistics, and regulatory standards.
Hunan has maintained the top position among central and western Chinese provinces in terms of trade with Africa, with its trade volume growing from 18.16 billion yuan in 2018 to 54.85 billion yuan (roughly 7.6 billion USD) in 2024, according to official data.
