Canadian Minister of Foreign Affairs Mélanie Joly is set to visit China from July 18 to 20, following an invitation from Wang Yi, Member of the Political Bureau of the Communist Party of China Central Committee and Foreign Minister, announced Chinese Foreign Ministry spokesperson Lin Jian on Thursday.
During a daily news briefing, Lin mentioned that during the upcoming visit, the two sides will engage in detailed discussions on China-Canada relations and mutual interests, aiming to enhance and advance bilateral relations.
The top Canadian diplomat has not travelled to China since taking over as foreign minister in 2021, but she did meet with Wang in February on the sidelines of the Munich Security Conference.
