Belt and Road joint Lab for health and food safety launched to move a step ahead in academic cooperation.
The Belt and Road International Joint Laboratory for Health and Food Safety was officially inaugurated by Zhejiang A&F University (ZAFU), China, and Cholistan University of Veterinary and Animal Sciences (CUVAS), Pakistan, on November 6 in Zhengjiang, China.
The signing and unveiling event marked a key step forward in global academic collaboration. Wu Jiasheng, Vice President of ZAFU, emphasized that the lab’s creation ushers in a new era of academic partnerships, enhancing scholarly endeavors, promoting information sharing, and addressing worldwide challenges to improve social welfare.
The laboratory builds upon ZAFU’s “China-Australia Joint Laboratory for Animal Health Big Data Analytics” and involves cooperation with universities and research institutions across Pakistan, Russia, Egypt, Iran, Thailand, Australia, Italy, and other nations.
Its main research areas include public health, foodborne pathogens, environmental health, food safety, and antimicrobial resistance.
Professor Song Houhui, Dean of the College of Animal Science and Veterinary Medicine at ZAFU, underscored that the lab would prioritize talent cultivation, faculty and student exchanges, and scientific research in its upcoming phases.
