A freight train en route to Tashkent, Uzbekistan, departed from Beijing at approximately 10 a.m. on Wednesday, marking the official inauguration of the first direct freight train service between Beijing and Central Asia.
The train carries 90 standard containers filled with auto parts, medicines, and other goods sourced from the Beijing-Tianjin-Hebei region. It will leave China via the Horgos Port in Xinjiang and is expected to reach the Uzbek capital in about 14 days, according to China Railway Beijing Group Co., Ltd.
Officials stated that this new freight train service serves as a key platform for Beijing to further integrate into the Belt and Road Initiative, fostering high-quality and coordinated regional development.
