Central Business District (CBD)
Nestled in the vibrant Chaoyang District, the Central Business District (CBD) stands as a symbol of Beijing’s modernity and economic prowess. This area, surrounding the iconic Guomao (China World Trade Center), is recognized for its role as the primary hub for corporate services, business, and media in the capital.
The Chaoyang District is the economic powerhouse of Beijing. The district’s economic structure is powered by industrial setup, business, finance, technology and culture. The service sector comprises 94% of the economy.
Sanlitun
This area has undergone significant upgrades to better serve the expatriate community, with enhanced shopping and nightlife options. Sanlitun is known for its trendy, international vibe, featuring cutting-edge commercial centers and retail spaces. It boasts the most diverse array of international experiences, including a wide range of excellent restaurants, upscale bars, and vibrant nightclubs. As it is located near international embassies, and just a 10–15 minute bike ride from Liangmaqiao, Chaoyang Park, and Solana, Sanlitun is another prime destination. Further, Sanlitun Tai Koo Li and Sanlitun Soho, situated across the street, offer a variety of shops and dining options, including an Apple Store and one of Beijing’s few Shake Shack locations.
Moreover, 90 percent of first tier brands have set up businesses in the Chaoyang District., with a total of 1820 of first stores introduced, accounting for 60 percent of the total in Beijing.
In addition, the area around Liangmaqiao, adjacent to Sanlitun, is a favorite spot for both locals and tourists due to its wide variety of restaurants and shops. The river that flows through Liangmaqiao was renovated in 2020, linking Solana, a popular area with numerous dining and shopping options, to the 3rd Ring Road. Dining in Solana ranges from mid-range to upscale, and it connects to the northern parking lot of Chaoyang Park. Additionally, Liangmaqiao is home to one of the few Taco Bell locations in Beijing.
