Asia-Pacific journalists explore Guizhou’s culture in an event “Opportunities in China, Asia-Pacific Media in Guizhou.”
The “Opportunities in China, Asia-Pacific Media in Guizhou” event, organized by People’s Daily Online from Oct. 20 to 26, brings Asia-Pacific media representatives to explore Guizhou’s rich traditional culture and the province’s transformation through Chinese modernization.
The participation by journalists includes representation from Thailand, Laos , Myanmar, Nepal, other ASEAN countries and Pakistan.
Exploring Guizhou’s Culture
On October 21, 2024, journalists from Asia-Pacific countries participated in a catwalk show at the Xijiang Qianhu Miao Village in Leishan County, Guizhou Province, China. They showcased the traditional clothing of the Miao people, a prominent Chinese ethnic minority, highlighting the rich cultural heritage of the region.
Later in the evening, 17 journalists from 15 countries, including Malaysia, Thailand, and Indonesia, visited a Miao village in Leishan County, Guizhou Province, China. The journalists enjoyed a captivating performance that portrayed a mythical love story between a woman named Yang and the sun. The show, filled with traditional singing and dancing, provided a vivid and immersive experience of the vibrant and colorful Miao culture.
Further, on October 22, 2024, journalists from Asia-Pacific countries visited the “Memory of Guiyang” exhibition in Guiyang, Guizhou Province, China. They explored various sections like “Life in Memory” and “Textbooks in Memory,” and even held small language teaching sessions in multiple languages, creating an engaging and immersive experience.
Additionally, on October 22, 2024, journalists from Asia-Pacific countries experienced the serene harmony between humans and nature at Qianling Mountain Park in Guiyang, Guizhou Province, China. The park features a captivating combination of scenic mountains, tranquil waters, and playful pandas and monkeys. It serves as both a relaxing retreat for Guiyang’s residents and a popular destination for tourists, offering a delightful intersection of natural beauty and cultural richness.
Moreover, as the journalists are participating in the event, a co-creating meeting was held as well.
Lastly, the event provides participants to encounter cultural experiences in Guizhou, China, including traditional performances, exhibitions, and nature explorations, highlighting the rich heritage and modernization of the region.
