Army supports Green Pakistan Initiative to boost agriculture, COAS stated during the launch ceremony in Cholistan.
Chief of Army Staff (COAS) General Syed Asim Munir reiterated the military’s commitment to Pakistan’s economic growth, highlighting Punjab’s significant role as the country’s agricultural hub.
Speaking at the launch of the Green Pakistan Initiative in Cholistan, Gen Asim Munir acknowledged Punjab’s leadership and farmers for their efforts in modernizing agriculture. He praised the Punjab government’s Green Corporate Project, describing its swift achievements as a positive step toward progress.
The initiative saw the inauguration of key projects, including the Green Mall and Service Company, Smart Agri Farm, and Agricultural Research and Facility Centre. The launch event was attended by Punjab Chief Minister Maryam Nawaz Sharif, along with Federal Ministers Rana Tanveer Hussain and Musadik Malik.
The Green Agri Mall and Service Company will offer farmers quality seeds, fertilizers, and pesticides at subsidized rates, along with affordable access to agricultural machinery, including drones. Additionally, a 5,000-acre modern agricultural farm will showcase advanced irrigation techniques and water-efficient farming methods to enhance productivity while reducing costs.
The Agricultural Research and Facility Centre will provide soil testing and other research services, working with institutions nationwide to foster agricultural innovation.
Chief Minister Maryam Nawaz Sharif also hailed the initiative as a “revolution” in modern agriculture, emphasizing its potential to uplift Punjab’s farmers and contribute to Pakistan’s overall prosperity.
