Ambassador Zaidong hails Zardari’s visit to China of great significance.
Chinese Ambassador Jiang Zaidong has praised President Asif Ali Zardari’s visit to China as a key milestone in strengthening the longstanding partnership between the two nations. He emphasized that the visit holds significant importance in shaping the future of their all-weather strategic cooperation and navigating bilateral relations amid evolving global dynamics.
In an official statement, the ambassador outlined an ambitious plan for enhancing ties as President Zardari embarks on his high-profile state visit from February 4 to February 8.
He highlighted that the visit, at the invitation of President Xi Jinping, coincides with the 10th anniversary of Xi’s landmark 2015 visit to Pakistan and the Chinese New Year celebrations. This timing, he noted, reinforces the commitment of both nations to their all-weather strategic cooperative partnership, which has strengthened despite global uncertainties.
The ambassador credited President Xi’s leadership for driving the progress of the China-Pakistan Economic Corridor (CPEC), which has transitioned from a “1+4” framework to a more advanced phase, with ongoing high-level discussions shaping the future of the initiative.
Discussing recent achievements, he highlighted major developments in bilateral cooperation over the past year. He noted that the Khunjerab Pass was officially opened for year-round operations on December 1, marking a significant step forward in trade and connectivity.
Additionally, he mentioned the groundbreaking of Chashma Nuclear Power Plant Unit-5 on December 30, a project expected to create 40,000 jobs, and the commencement of domestic and international flights at Gwadar New International Airport.
In a demonstration of humanitarian cooperation, a team of Chinese medical experts recently traveled to Pakistan to perform life-saving surgeries on children.
