Ambassador Khalil Hashmi visited the International Cooperation Center (ICC) to discuss Pakistan and China bilateral relations.
On November 27, Ambassador of Pakistan to China, H.E. Khalil ur Rahman Hashmi, and his delegation visited the Jianguomen office of the International Cooperation Center (ICC) at the invitation of its Joint Council. The meeting included key figures such as Zhang Zhixiang, a member of the ICC Strategic Advisory Committee and former Executive Director of the IMF for China, and Zhang Yu, Convenor of the Joint Council and Director of the ICC Steering Committee. During their discussions, both parties explored China-Pakistan relations and shared interests in bilateral strategy, politics, security, economics, trade, and cultural exchanges. They also addressed global and regional issues, reaching several constructive agreements. Both sides committed to implementing the shared goals set by their respective leaders, enhancing collaboration, and building a stronger China-Pakistan community with a shared future.
Both sides emphasized the significance of maintaining peace and stability in South Asia and security in the Asia-Pacific region. They expressed a mutual commitment to advancing the eight high-quality actions of Belt and Road construction and developing an “upgraded version” of the China-Pakistan Economic Corridor (CPEC). To facilitate these goals, they agreed to establish a long-term 1.5 Track dialogue mechanism between the ICC and the Pakistani Embassy in China, inviting senior officials and experts to enhance collaboration. This initiative aims to strengthen cooperation across various sectors and jointly promote regional peace, development, and prosperity.
Key participants in the meeting included Zhu Hongshan, Economic Affairs Advisor of the ICC; Cheng Yu, Executive Secretary General of the ICC; and Xin Shaosong, Deputy Director of the ICC Office. Representing Pakistan were Bilal Mahmood Chaudhary, Deputy Chief of Mission; Omar Muhammad, Ayesha Saeed, and Haseeb Gohar, Political Counselors; and Rabbia Nasir, Second Secretary of the Embassy of Pakistan to China.
