Ambassador Hashmi highlights Pak-China partnership while delivering a detailed analysis of China’s rise at an Inhouse Roundtable discussion.
Pakistan’s Ambassador to China, Khalil-ur-Rehman Hashmi, emphasized the ever-strengthening relationship between Pakistan and China. Speaking at an In-house Roundtable Discussion on “Pakistan-China Relations” hosted by the Institute of Strategic Studies (ISS), he delivered a detailed analysis of China’s global rise, its regional and international engagements, and the current dynamics of bilateral ties.
Ambassador Hashmi highlighted efforts by Pakistan’s mission in Beijing to deepen trade, investment, and economic cooperation between the two nations. He mentioned high-level engagements, including visits by prime ministers, ministerial meetings, and military exchanges, as well as interactions with officials such as the Minister for the International Department of the Communist Party of China.
During the interactive session, participants exchanged ideas on fostering sustained collaboration, enhancing the business-to-business (B2B) interface, and promoting greater people-to-people exchanges. They emphasized the need for strategic foresight and readiness to fully leverage this critical partnership in a rapidly shifting global landscape.
The event concluded with a shared commitment to further strengthening Pakistan-China relations by addressing contemporary challenges and opportunities, reflecting the enduring importance of this partnership.
In his opening remarks, ISS Director-General Sohail Mahmood reaffirmed the Institute’s dedication to fostering dialogue on Pakistan’s strategic ties, particularly the all-weather strategic cooperative partnership with China. He also highlighted the steady evolution of Pakistan-China relations since 1949, the significance of the China-Pakistan Economic Corridor (CPEC), and the implications of a shifting global order marked by great-power competition and increasing multipolarity.
