AI Innovation Lab to be set in Karachi to boost startups and global AI integration.
Pakistani-origin entrepreneur and CEO of Data Vault Pakistan, Mehwish Salman Ali, announced the launch of an AI Innovation Lab in Karachi during the IDCF event, organized by the Digital Cooperation Organization (DCO). The initiative aims to boost AI startups, drive innovation, and integrate Pakistani AI solutions into the global market. Unveiled at the International Digital Cooperation Forum (IDCF) held at the Dead Sea, Jordan, the project is expected to attract foreign investors and partners.
Mehwish Salman Ali emphasized that the AI Innovation Lab will provide essential support, including resources, mentorship, and facilitation for AI entrepreneurs, contributing to global technological advancements. This initiative aims to position Pakistan as a key player in AI development and tech entrepreneurship. Through strategic alliances and international collaborations, the lab will actively create opportunities for Pakistani AI startups, ensuring their inclusion in the global AI ecosystem.
At the 4th General Assembly of the International Digital Cooperation Forum (IDCF), hosted by DCO, Mehwish Salman Ali represented Pakistan, sharing insights alongside global industry leaders. She highlighted Pakistan’s role in producing top-tier AI talent and its growing impact on the global AI landscape. During the event, she participated in high-level discussions to promote Pakistan’s tech sector and AI capabilities, strengthening its position as a vital contributor to the international AI industry.
She engaged in a productive meeting with Hakeem Abdul Aziz Alrasheed, General Manager of Saudi Arabia’s leading tech firm, Elm, to explore potential collaborations in AI and digital security.
Additionally, she held discussions with Ulrike Domany-Funtan, General Secretary of Fit4Internet, focusing on partnerships in AI-powered digital literacy and cybersecurity initiatives.
Mehwish also met with Alberto Rodrigues da Silva, Portugal’s Secretary of State for Modernization and Digitalization, to explore bilateral AI research, development, and innovation. A distinguished researcher and professor at the University of Lisbon’s Instituto Superior Técnico, Rodrigues da Silva was invited to Pakistan to visit the Data Vault data center.
A key highlight of her engagements was an invitation from Dr. Ali bin Amer al Shidhani, Under-Secretary of Oman’s Ministry of Transport, Communications, and Information Technology, to establish a Data Vault office in Oman. This partnership aims to develop AI-driven solutions for both regional and international markets.
