Ahsan Iqbal reiterates commitment for development of Balochistan highlighting that balanced growth of all provinces is the focus under Uraan Pakistan.

Federal Planning and Development Minister Ahsan Iqbal, alongside Balochistan Chief Minister Mir Sarfraz Bugti, announced that the federal government will give top priority to Balochistan’s development in the upcoming Public Sector Development Programme (PSDP).

Addressing a joint press briefing, Iqbal said that balanced growth across all provinces is a key focus under the “Uraan Pakistan” plan, which seeks to transform Pakistan into a trillion-dollar economy.

He noted that since the 18th Amendment, provinces have greater autonomy, and it’s now their responsibility to contribute significantly to the country’s economic rise.

Iqbal underscored Balochistan’s strategic location and resource potential, suggesting it could become Pakistan’s wealthiest province through proper utilization of its minerals.

He highlighted the transformative potential of the Kachhi Canal project in boosting agriculture in Balochistan and affirmed that future development efforts will prioritize public needs.

Iqbal further stated that infrastructure projects like the Quetta-Zhob-D.I. Khan and Quetta-Karachi highways will be fast-tracked to enhance connectivity and spur economic activity in the region.

Commending CM Sarfraz Bugti’s leadership, Iqbal described Balochistan as a vital collaborator in realizing the Uraan Pakistan vision.

Chief Minister Bugti affirmed that the provincial government would fully cooperate with federal authorities to implement development projects aimed at improving the lives of the people.

In response to a question, Iqbal condemned recent terrorist incidents aimed at disrupting development, especially the killing of 43 FWO workers involved in constructing the Gwadar Road.

He stated that extremists are targeting civilians, teachers, and workers to sabotage progress, but reaffirmed that their plans will fail and emphasized the need for national unity to move forward.
