Ahsan Iqbal Commends Role of Energy China in Advancing Pakistan’s Sustainable Energy Future to strengthen energy infrastructure.
Federal Minister for Planning, Development & Special Initiatives Ahsan Iqbal has commended Energy China’s significant contribution to Pakistan’s energy sector, emphasizing the strategic importance of the Azad Pattan Hydro Power Project. In a meeting with Energy China International Group’s General Manager Wang Huihua, it was revealed that the company has successfully completed 21 mega infrastructure projects in Pakistan, valued at over 12 billion USD. The most notable ventures include the Azad Pattan Hydro Power Project (700 megawatts) and the Sukki Kinari Project (870 megawatts), with a combined investment of 3.5 billion USD.

The Azad Pattan Hydro Power Project represents a model of bilateral cooperation and sustainable development. As Ahsan Iqbal highlighted, the project underscores the long-standing partnership between Pakistan and China, rooted in shared goals of energy security and economic growth. Energy China’s commitment to adhering to project timelines demonstrates its dedication to strengthening Pakistan’s energy infrastructure while fostering regional development through renewable energy initiatives.

Energy China’s presence in Pakistan since the 1990s reflects its consistent focus on supporting the country’s infrastructure landscape. Over the past three decades, the company has played a key role in developing projects related to hydro, thermal, and nuclear power, as well as transmission lines, highways, and water conservation systems. Its multi-sector involvement highlights China’s comprehensive approach to advancing Pakistan’s socio-economic development through cutting-edge engineering and project execution.

During the meeting, Wang Huihua expressed Energy China’s readiness to explore future projects aligned with Pakistan’s development priorities. The company envisions expanded cooperation in infrastructure development, eco-environmental protection, and the creation of smart cities. Its involvement in the China-Pakistan Economic Corridor (CPEC) further strengthens its role as a trusted development partner, contributing to Pakistan’s long-term energy sustainability and economic resilience.

The continued collaboration between Pakistan and Energy China signifies a promising future for the country’s infrastructure and energy landscape. By driving large-scale investments and ensuring the successful execution of critical projects, the partnership serves as a cornerstone for regional development, environmental sustainability, and technological innovation. Through shared commitment and strategic cooperation, Pakistan and China are paving the way for a more connected and prosperous future.
