Pakistani Punjab provincial government on Tuesday afternoon approved leasing of government land for corporate farming under China-Pakistan Economic Corridor (CPEC).
Speaking at a news briefing after the Punjab cabinet meeting, the Special Assistant to Chief Minister (SACM) Punjab Usman Buzdar on Information Hasaan Khawar informed that the Punjab cabinet approved leasing of government land for corporate farming under CPEC and Punjab Sahulat (facility) Bazaar Authority Act 2021.
Recently, the Cabinet Committee on Legislative Business was held at Civil Secretariat under the chairmanship of Punjab Minister for Law and Cooperatives Raja Basharat.
The committee had permitted preparation of rules and regulations for leasing out government land for corporate farming in the province under CPEC.
Hasaan Khawar mentioned that the cabinet also approved amendment in the Punjab Civil Servants Act, 1974, approving allocation of 33 percent quota in government jobs for the south Punjab region.
“The cabinet meeting approved re-constitution of the District Consumer Protection Council to bring technical and vocational education institutions under one platform,” he added.
SACM stated that the cabinet gave a green signal to token tax exemption for electric vehicles in Punjab, asserting that it was a good decision of the provincial cabinet for approval of the establishment of Punjab Private Schools Regulatory Authority.
Khawar contended that the government was taking difficult decisions despite the challenges, adding that reducing petroleum prices by Rs 10 and electricity by Rs 5 even in difficult circumstances was a difficult but revolutionary decision of the government.
He mentioned the first priority of the government was to create convenience for the people, adding that in this regard the government was taking revolutionary steps.
