Prime Minister Imran Khan in a high-level meeting on Monday revived progress on Special Economic Zones (SEZs).
The Prime Minister was informed that Rashakai SEZ, Allama Iqbal Industrial City (AIIC) under China-Pakistan Economic Corridor (CPEC) and Bolan SEZ were fully operational and “work on construction of industries in these SEZs was in full swing”. The supply of gas and electricity has been ensured in the operational SEZs.
The meeting was informed that work on CPEC’s Dhabeji Special Economic Zone (DSEZ) in Thatta, Sindh was in progress and the zone would soon be operational.
The meeting was informed that 1500 acres of land for the construction of industries to 130 companies was allotted in 2021.
Prime Minister Imran directed the concerned authorities to facilitate investors in the SEZs and to resolve their issues on priority basis.
SAPM on CPEC Khalid Mansoor, Federal Minister for Planning Development & Special Initiatives Asad Umar, Information Minister Fawad Choudhary, Chairman Board of Investment Zafar Ahsan, National Security Adviser Moeed Yusuf Minister for Energy Hammad Azhar attended the meeting.
