In yet another significant achievement, China Gezhouba Group of Companies (CGGC) has completed the overall concreting of the four units of underground powerhouses of 884MW Suki Kinari Hydropower Project (SKHP), Mansehra in Khyber Pakhtunkhwa (KP).
CGGC is executing SKHP, one of the biggest private sector projects under the framework of China-Pakistan Economic Corridor (CPEC). The project is located above Kunhar River with an elevation between 1,300 meters and 2,400 meters.
To celebrate the achievement, CGGC workers held a ceremony at the powerhouse on Sunday. The project management of the SKHP has appreciated skills and efforts of the Chinese and Pakistani staff for accomplishing the milestone.
The CPEC Authority’s website shows that the Financial Close (FC) of the project was achieved in February 2017 while the structural work was started at the first quarter of 2020, which was completed at the end of 2021.
The CGGC team continued to work despite the challenges of the corona pandemic, accomplishing its tasks well on scheduled time.
The total gross installed capacity of SKHP is around 884 MW with the supply of four sets of impulse turbines. SK project is a foreign direct investment project with a total investment of $ 1.96 billion with 6 years’ construction period. CGGC is the engineering, procurement and construction (EPC) contractor, with an amount of $ 1.314 billion. This project is composed of a dam, spillway, intake, headrace-tunnel, surge branch, pressing piping, powerhouse and tailrace tunnel.
