Taking the 70th anniversary of the establishment of diplomatic relations between China and Pakistan as an opportunity, Confucius Institute, University of Punjab (CIPU), in collaboration with Lahore Overseas Chinese Association (LOCA) and other sinophile groups, carried out various cultural activities with Chinese cultural characteristics including martial arts, calligraphy, tea art, ink painting, mask, paper-cut, etc from December 14 to 17.
On the occasion, the teaching achievement exhibition of Chinese cultural interest course of CIPU was held. The certificates of completion of Pakistani students in Jiangxi University of Science and Technology, the certificates of excellent trainee teachers and students in Confucius Institute were issued.
While delivering the opening remarks, Mr. Cai Jinbao, Chinese Dean of CIPU highlighted that Chinese civilization is the only civilization in the world that has not been interrupted and has developed so far, and it has a strong endogenous power. He fuether manintained that, “Chinese calligraphy and painting and other arts have rich connotations and profound philosophy, which are conducive to learners’ real understanding of Chinese civilization, Chinese wisdom and Chinese contribution.”
The closing ceremony of the series of activities kicked off with the national anthem of Pakistan and China on Friday. Prof. Dr. Muhammad Saleem Mazhar, Pro Vice Chancellor, University of Punjab underlined that Pakistan and China always give each other the strongest support. He believes that Pakistan-China relations will certainly develop even deeper with the support of the Confucius Institute.
Prof. Dr. Rana Eijaz Ahmad, Pakistani Dean of CIPU, recalled that since its establishment in 2016, CIPU has trained more than 2, 000 Chinese language talents for people from all walks of life in Pakistan. He added that, “CIPU has made great contributions to the Pakistani people’s further understanding of China and the friendship between the two countries.”
