More than 150 Pakistani enterprises and participants have participated in a training on selling Pakistani goods to China through cross-border e-commerce, jointly held by the Trade Development Authority of Pakistan (TDAP), the Consulate General of Pakistan in Shanghai and the China-SCO Local Economic and Trade Cooperation Demonstration Area Management Committee on December 14.
Themed “Cross Border E-commerce – Sell to China: Pakistan Special Open Class”, the one-day online workshop covers an overview of the Chinese market and cross-border e-commerce, with a special focus on cross-border e-commerce business models, platforms, and trends in China, and introduces how to draw on branding/ marketing, logistics and social media to tap cross-border e-commerce opportunities.
Speaking on the occasion, Hussain Haider, Consul General of the Consulate General of Pakistan in Shanghai, revealed that Pakistan is the first country to receive the special training designed for SCO member countries by Taobao Education, an online e-commerce education and training platform under China’s e-commerce giant Alibaba.
According to TDAP, more general and advanced classes on cross-border e-commerce will follow in the upcoming months.
In August, Pakistan signed a Memorandum of Understanding (MoU) on Building a Cross-border E-commerce Platform with nine trade organisations of SCO member states, in an aim to promote collaboration among Shanghai Cooperation Organisation (SCO) member states in the digital economy. Joint e-commerce talent training is one of the four areas of cooperation covered in the MoU.
