Pakistan’s automotive manufacturer Sazgar Engineering Works Limited has opened a three-wheeler assembly plant in the Philippines, expanding the company’s presence in the Southeast Asian market.
According to the Pakistan Embassy in the Philippines, Philippine President Ferdinand R. Marcos Jr. inaugurated the facility on Thursday. The embassy announced the development on Friday, describing it as the entry of Pakistan-made three-wheelers into the Philippine market.
The embassy said it had facilitated Sazgar’s introduction of passenger and commercial three-wheelers, as well as electric vehicles, in the country.
New Plant to Assemble 12,000 Vehicles Annually
According to the Philippine President’s official website, the facility is designed to assemble approximately 12,000 three-wheeled vehicles each year.
The plant will cover vehicles powered by both electric and internal combustion engines.
During the inauguration, Marcos described the facility as an important step towards strengthening the Philippines’ manufacturing sector and advancing the transition to cleaner and more sustainable transportation.
He also noted that Sazgar had been manufacturing vehicles in Pakistan for more than three decades before selecting the Philippines as its first overseas base and a hub for its Southeast Asian operations.
Sazgar Expands Its International Market
Sazgar Engineering Works Limited is a public limited company headquartered in Lahore, according to its official website.
The company exports three-wheelers and automotive parts to more than 20 countries. Its export markets include Japan, the United Arab Emirates, Sri Lanka and Nigeria.
The new Philippine facility adds a manufacturing presence in Southeast Asia and creates an opportunity for Sazgar to serve the regional market through local assembly.
The development also highlights the growing international reach of Pakistan’s automotive manufacturing sector.
