The inaugural meeting of the Strategic Political and Defence Committee under the Makkah Joint Defence Agreement will take place in Istanbul, Türkiye, today.
Pakistan will participate in the meeting alongside Türkiye and Saudi Arabia. The gathering aims to strengthen strategic coordination and support regional peace and stability.
Pakistan Delegation to Attend Meeting
Deputy Prime Minister and Foreign Minister Senator Mohammad Ishaq Dar will represent Pakistan at the meeting.
Federal Minister for Defence Khawaja Muhammad Asif and Chief of Army Staff and Chief of Defence Forces Field Marshal Syed Asim Munir will also attend.
Their participation highlights Pakistan’s commitment to strengthening defence and political cooperation with its regional partners.
Türkiye and Saudi Arabia Also Represented
The meeting will bring together senior officials from all three countries. Foreign and defence ministers from Türkiye and Saudi Arabia will participate.
Chiefs of General Staff from the two countries will also attend the session. Consequently, the meeting will provide a high-level platform for strategic consultations.
Focus on Regional Peace and Stability
Pakistan’s participation reflects its longstanding ties with Türkiye and Saudi Arabia. It also demonstrates Islamabad’s interest in promoting lasting regional peace.
