Prime Minister Muhammad Shehbaz Sharif has inaugurated Google’s first office in Pakistan, marking a major development in the country’s digital economy.
Google Vice President Wilson White, US Chargé d’Affaires Natalie Baker, and other dignitaries attended the ceremony in Islamabad.
Google Expands Partnership with Pakistan
The Prime Minister also met a nine-member Google delegation led by Wilson White. During the meeting, he highlighted Pakistan’s plans for digital transformation and the digitization of the economy.
Shehbaz Sharif shared the government’s vision for “Digital Nation Pakistan.” He said several initiatives to build the national digital ecosystem are already at an advanced stage.
Focus on IT and Artificial Intelligence
The Prime Minister reaffirmed the government’s commitment to upgrading IT infrastructure. He also highlighted programs aimed at training young Pakistanis in IT and artificial intelligence.

Chromebook Production and Regional Exports
The meeting also covered Google’s Chromebook assembly initiative with local partners. Wilson White noted that locally assembled Chromebooks could potentially be exported to other regional markets.
