China called for enhanced global data governance and stronger international cooperation during the inaugural assembly of the World Data Organization (WDO) held in Beijing.Chinese Vice Premier Ding Xuexiang delivered a keynote speech and read out a congratulatory message from President Xi Jinping, highlighting the importance of the organization in the digital era.
Ding said the establishment of the WDO aligns with global technological trends and will help bridge the data divide, unlock data value, and support the development of the digital economy.He emphasized that China is advancing data governance systems, including data property rights, while using data to drive industrial upgrading, improve public services, and enhance governance efficiency.
The vice premier also outlined three key proposals: promoting open data flow through cooperation, encouraging inclusive data sharing for common development, and strengthening coordinated governance to ensure data security.Around 500 representatives, including international experts, government officials, and organization leaders, attended the assembly, marking a significant step toward shaping global data governance frameworks.
