China placed its cutting-edge robotics industry in the global spotlight during the annual CCTV Spring Festival Gala, the country’s most-watched television programme. Several humanoid robots performed live during the Lunar New Year celebrations, demonstrating Beijing’s ambition to dominate next-generation manufacturing and artificial intelligence.
Four emerging robotics companies, Unitree Robotics, Galbot, Noetix and MagicLab, showcased their machines in action. Performances included martial arts routines, synchronized dances and comedy sketches, with robots handling complex movements, recovering from falls and coordinating with human performers on stage.
Analysts say the spectacle reflects China’s long-term strategy to integrate AI and robotics into industry, especially as the country faces an aging workforce. With Chinese firms accounting for the vast majority of global humanoid robot shipments, the gala served not just as entertainment but as a powerful demonstration of technological strength and future economic priorities.
