Prime Minister Shehbaz Sharif extended his heartfelt greetings to President Xi Jinping, the people of China, and Chinese communities around the world on the occasion of the Lunar New Year 2026, the Year of the Horse. On his X (formerly Twitter) timeline, he began his message with the Chinese words “Gong Xi Fa Cai,” wishing prosperity and success.
Referring to the Year of the Horse under the Chinese zodiac, the prime minister highlighted its symbolism of energy, resilience, and speed—qualities he said resonated with the shared journey of Pakistan and China. Currently on a two-day visit to Austria, he emphasized that Pakistan and China are “iron brothers” bound by an All-Weather Strategic Cooperative Partnership focused on peace, development, and regional connectivity.
PM Shehbaz wished that the new year would further strengthen bilateral ties, deepen cooperation, and promote prosperity for both peoples. He concluded by stating that the entire Pakistani nation joins him in wishing Chinese brothers and sisters good health, success, and continued forward momentum in 2026.
