Thar Youth Head to China Dual Diploma as 18 students from the Government Polytechnic Institute (GPI) Mithi embark on a transformative educational journey in China. Supported by Thar Foundation, STEVTA, and TANG International, the students will complete the final year of their three-year Diploma of Associate Engineering (DAE) at Pingdingshan University, Henan Province.
The selected students, specializing in mining, electrical, mechanical, and civil engineering, benefit from scholarships, Chinese language training, and mentorship to prepare for industrial careers and global exposure. More than 300 students are enrolled at GPI Mithi, including 13 women participating in the programs for the first time.
An appreciation ceremony in Karachi, attended by representatives from Thar Foundation, STEVTA, TANG International, GPI Mithi, and students’ families, celebrated the students’ achievement. Farhan Ansari, GM Thar Foundation, emphasized the Foundation’s commitment to equipping Thar’s youth with vocational skills and international opportunities.
One of the students shared, “Studying abroad was once an impossible dream for us. Thar Foundation has turned that dream into reality.” The initiative highlights the role of international collaboration in promoting education, skill development, and cross-cultural understanding for young talent from Pakistan’s Thar region.
